The Flying Carpet Institute

Das Flying Carpet Institute ist ein Blog mit besonderem Schwerpunkt auf Nachrichten aus dem Nahen Osten. Dabei haben wir uns als Ziel gesetzt, aus einer progressiven Perspektive heraus über politische und gesellschaftliche Verhältnisse in der Region zu informieren.

Die linken Kräfte im Nahen Osten sind aktuell zwar geschwächt, doch wollen wir diesen Zustand nicht so einfach hinnehmen. Deshalb sehen wir es als unsere selbstverständliche Pflicht dazu beizutragen, eben diesen Kräften in der Region durch diese Plattform zu unterstützen und eine Stimme zu verleihen. Eine Auseinandersetzung mit Themen, wie dem Charakter islamischer Bewegungen und Regimen, die Besatzungen in Palästina und dem Irak oder die Perspektiven aufstrebender linker Kräften, halten wir für notwendig. Nur so können Linke außerhalb der Region die Lage besser beurteilen und zu Gestaltung einer internationalistischen Politik beitragen.

The Flying Carpet Institute is a blog based in Germany that focusses on news from the Middle East. We´ve set ourselves the goal to report about different social and political circumstances in the region from a left-wing point of view.

The leftist forces in the region are currently weak. Because of this, we see it as our self-evident duty to support these voices through our platform by giving them a voice. Only through a thorough analysis of different subjects like the character of Islamist movements and regimes, the nature of the occupations in Iraq and Palestine or the prospects of leftist movements in the region can leftists outside the region better understand the situation and contribute to the advancement of an internationalist agenda.
